The work is entitled \u003cem\u003eNaturgeschitchte der Papageien\u003c\/em\u003e or \u003cem\u003eNatural History of Parrots\u003c\/em\u003e. It was published in Pest (modern Budapest) in 1842 by a Mr. Hartleben and translated into German by Friedrich Treischke.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe volume is bound in contemporary green cloth with gold gilt lettering and details to spine.  The book includes a portrait of Le Valliant in the front as well as a short biography. The subject matter includes parrots from various parts of the world in 30 originally hand-colored engravings..\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSir William Jardine (1800-1874) was a talented Scottish naturalist. Some of his original work is in the London Natural History Museum and the Royal Scottish Museum.
