Bolton was an English illustrator and naturalist. Harmonia Ruralis is widely considered his masterpiece. Bolton’s nest and egg prints are the most desired amongst collectors. This particular edition is often considered to have the most subtle and fine hand-coloring. The birds and nests were drawn from life.
