This oblong quarto engraving is from a natural history work by Johann & Martin Elias Ridinger. There is no official title for the work, but it may have been published lacking a title. It was published in Augsburg circa 1825. It is a rare edition of Ridinger’s engravings of animals completed by his son post-humously.
Johann Elias Ridinger was a German painter, engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is considered one of the most famous German engravers of animals, particularly horses, hounds and hunting scenes.
