Condition: The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. The ties are missing and portfolio slightly worn from age. There is a hole in the spine. There is some light scattered foxing to the plates. It is lacking title page or table of contents, thus possibly incomplete but count is true. There may be some faint general wear or toning and a few minor imperfections to be expected with age and size. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact with any questions.

This fascinating portfolio includes 27 engravings on America. The album is title Amerique and was published in Paris circa 1865 by F. Chardon Aine.
The steel engraved plates are loose in publisher's red half-cloth portfolio with gilt title on the upper cover. The engravings include 25 buildings or landscapes and 2 portraits completed by Outhwaite, Willmann, Colin, Lalaisse, Aubert, Delannoy, Nargeot, and Foulquier. The illustrations were done by by Lebreton, Noel, Fichot, Willmann, and Janet. Included in the views are Niagara Falls, Louisville, New Orleans, Memphis, Hudson River, the White House, Havana, Montevideo, Verazruz, Lima, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro. The portraits are of Maximilian I, Emperor of Mexico and H.M. Dom Pedro II, Emperor of Brazil.
