Description of the work:

This strong mythological engraving is from Ottavio Antonio Bayardi's Le Antichità di Ercolano esposte. The work was published in Naples by Regia Stamperia between 1755 and 1792. The copper engravings were after drawings done by Caillo Paderni. This engraving is from the first edition of the important work that illustrated the inventorying of excavated sites of Herculaneum, Pompeii and Stabiae. The work was never intended for sale, but rather gifted to the royal family of Naples and dignitaries.
