Description of the work:
This impressive map of North America is called L’amerique septentrionale, ou se remarquent les etas unis. It was engraved by Brion de la Tour, and was published in 1788 by Esnauts and Rapilly.
It depicts contemporary borders between English, Spanish, and French North American territories, as well as the newly formed United States. The cartography is largely the same as a map made and published by the same people in 1779, but has been updated to include dates of discovery (see the Strait of Juan de Fuca) and other varying place names (see the Drake’s Bay or Bodega Harbor.)
