The work was published in Nurember by Christian Sigismund Froberger for the author and in Frankfurt by Michael and Johann Friedrich Endter in 1680.  The work featured richly illustrated statues of ancient Gods and Goddesses with strong backgrounds.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eJoachim von Sandrart (1606-1688) was a famous German Baroque painter and art-historian.  He became noted for his writings post-humously.  He initially apprenticed as an engraver, but was advised to put his talents into painting.
