The work was published in Paris in 1670 by Pierre Mariette.  Each engraving features original outline color.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe atlas was first published in 1658 and was considered the first French world atlas.  It featured numerous maps including several world maps, continental maps, parts of the Americs, India, China, Japan, and numerous European countries and territories.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNicolas Sanson (1600-1667) was oft considered the father of French cartography.  He produced over 300 maps in his career, noted for their sharp style and research.
