Description of the work: These five volumes are Coenraad Jacob Temminck's Nouveau recueil de planches coloriees d'oiseaux or New Collection of Colored Plates of Birds. They were published in 1838 in Paris by F. G. Levrault.

These books are uncollated but are believed complete with all 600 originally hand-colored engravings. The volumes are bound in ______, with gilt-lettering along the spine.

Coenraad Jacob Temminck (1778-1858) was a Dutch aristocrat and zoologist. He was the first director of the National Natural History Museum in Leiden. He was an accomplished ornithological publisher with 47 species named after him, 20 of which are birds.
